Regularly Scheduled Public Meetings

This is a list of selected regularly schedule local public meetings. It is by no means a comprehensive list.

Shelby County Board of Education (Shelby County & Memphis Schools)
Board meetings are broadcast live on Comcast Cable TV Channel 18 and broadcast live on WQOX-FM 88.5, Memphis.
The Shelby County Board of Education (Shelby County Schools District and Memphis City Schools District) regularly meets the last Tuesday of each month* at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Frances E. Coe Education Building at the Shelby County Schools Administrative offices, 160 South Hollywood Street, Memphis, TN. A board work session meets the Tuesday preceding the regular meeting at the same time and location.

Commission meetings are held on select Mondays at 3:00 p.m.

* Shelby County Commission Committees typically meet on Wednesday prior to the Monday’s Commission meeting. Committees generally begin at 8:30 a.m. and adjourn once all agenda business has been conducted. It is suggest you check the Commission’s web site to verify the schedule and agenda.

Memphis City Council
City Hall, 125 North Main Street, Memphis, TN.
City Council meetings are streamed live on the Internet and archived videos are also available from the City of Memphis.

City Council committee meetings are typically held throughout morning and early afternoon of the day of a regular council meeting. For specific schedules, check the City Council website.

Memphis and Shelby County Land Use Control Board
The LUCB meets the second Thursday of each month at Memphis City Hall, 125 North Main Street, Memphis, TN., at 10 a.m. to conduct a public hearing of the various development proposals which have been submitted for review through the Office of Planning and Development. Memphis Design Review Board
Meets the first Wednesday of every month at 5pm at the Downtown Memphis Commission Office, 114 North Main Street.
The DRB serves to make recommendations regarding regulations with respect to signs and other public and private improvement projects within the Central Business Improvement District. The DRB reviews applications for all projects receiving financial incentives from the Downtown Memphis Commission’s affiliated agencies, as well as all signage and all public improvements in the Central Business Improvement District.

Center City Development Corporation
Meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 9 am in the Downtown Memphis Commission’s office, 114 North Main Street.
The CCDC acts as a developer for key Downtown projects and offers low-interest development loans to property owners who renovate, redevelop, or stabilize properties in the Central Business Improvement District.

Center City Revenue Finance Corporation
Meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 9am in the Downtown Memphis Commission’s office, 114 North Main Street.
The CCRFC is authorized to finance, own, lease, and dispose of properties in order to maintain and increase employment opportunities and increase the quantity of housing in the Center City. The CCRFC is also charged with promoting industry, trade, commerce, tourism, recreation, and housing construction, and inducing related enterprises to remain in or locate to the Center City.

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Board Meetings
First & third Thursday of each month (unless announced otherwise), 1:30 p.m.

Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County (EDGE)
Meets the third Wednesday of most months
Usually meets at Memphis Bioworks Foundation, 20 South Dudley St.
Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) Industrial Development Board of the City of Memphis and County of Shelby, Tennessee was formed to simplify and strengthen public sector economic development functions. The non-profit organization was designed to combine multiple agencies under one umbrella and to serve a leading roll in administering current economic development incentive programs, as well as develop new tools for growing the Memphis and Shelby County economies. EDGE combines the Industrial Development Board, Depot, International Port of Memphis, Frank C. Pidgeon Industrial Park, Foreign-Trade Zone 77 and other programs under common leadership. EDGE is also tasked with launching new economic development financing programs for small and medium-sized firms, small business assistance programs, a brownfield redevelopment initiative and creating a Rail Authority.

Memphis Area Transit Authority
Fourth Monday of every month unless otherwise noted, 3:30 p.m.
MATA Headquarters, 1370 Levee Road, Memphis OR Benjamin Hooks Central Library
The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) is the public transportation provider for the Memphis area. The system is governed by a seven-member policy board appointed by the City Mayor and approved by the Memphis City Council.

Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority Board Meetings
Third Thursday of each month unless otherwise noted, 8 a.m.
2491 Winchester Road, Suite 113 (Memphis International Airport terminal) Memphis International Airport and the general aviation Charles Baker Airport and the General DeWitt Spain Airport are governed by the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority.

Shelby County Election Commission
Third Wednesday of the month, and other times as needed. 4 p.m. See next line.
The August, 2014, meeting date has changed to Monday, August 25, 2014, 4 p.m.
Elections Operations Center, 980 Nixon Drive, Memphis, TN
The Election Commission is responsible for conducting all public elections in Shelby County. The commission is comprised of five members appointed by the Tennessee State Election Commission in odd-numbered calendar years for two-year terms. It is their responsibility to conduct elections fairly and to certify each election’s results.
In addition to the official full commission meeting, there are often committee meetings. It seems the Shelby County Open Meetings page is the best reference for notice of these meetings.

Other Meetings
